A positive pregnancy is always a happy news for couples. And for us, who have been trying to conceive for more than 8 year, this was the happiest news ever.
My husband, Paulraj, and I, Mariyammal, have been happily married and have been trying to get pregnant for 2 years now. Each time I was near to having a successful pregnancy, I would either have a miscarriage or I would have a negative pregnancy test.
These two years have been a year of betrayal and hopelessness for us. We understood something might be wrong with our fertility, so we consulted an infertility specialist in our area.
The doctor took some tests and found that I have a damaged fallopian tube, which is causing those negative pregnancies. We tried IUI, but the cycle was a failure due to the damaged fallopian tubes. I nearly had an ectopic pregnancy because the fertilized egg could not pass the tube and reach the uterus.
Knowing About The Hive Fertility Clinic
My husband and I then decided to try another fertility hospital. We discussed this matter with our family and friends. We were first worried about what they might think. The first fertility hospital was done in secret without their approval.
However, our family was very supportive and helped us search for the best fertility hospital in our area. This is how we got to know about The Hive Fertility and Women’s Centre in Chennai.
Visiting The Hive For Fertility Treatments
Our first consultation with The Hive went very smoothly. All the doctors and nurses there were very empathetic and supportive. They ran several tests on us, and the result was almost the same as the previous hospital: I had a damaged fallopian tube.
I thought the doctors would suggest an IUI again. However, Dr Niveditha recommended me to undergo IVF treatment as this procedure bypasses the need for fallopian tubes as the embryo is directly injected through the vagina.
Undergoing IVF Treatments
The IVF procedure was a little difficult to undergo. All the hormonal injections and the invasive procedures were a bit tiring and had some minor side effects. The doctors said that these symptoms are normal and will reduce in a few days.
My family and friends stayed with me throughout the procedure and supported me every step of the way. They are the main reason I could go through the procedure till the end without any complications.
Finally, the day of embryo transfer arrived. As I have issues with my fallopian tubes, the doctors played it safe and only transferred one embryo to avoid twin pregnancies or ectopic pregnancy.
After embryo transfer, Dr Niveditha asked us to wait for 2 weeks before taking a pregnancy test. These two weeks were a difficult period for us as we were waiting to know the results of our IVF treatment.
Taking The Pregnancy Test: Fingers Crossed For A Positive Pregnancy
During the day of my pregnancy test, I was very jittery and fearful of knowing the result. Even now, my family consoled me and asked me to take the pregnancy test.
I took a urine pregnancy test. When I saw the two pink lines that indicated a positive pregnancy, I was almost overwhelmed with emotions. But I wasn’t ready to trust the pregnancy test result.
I have had miscarriages in the past. So, I wanted to visit my fertility doctor and learn the results from her. I underwent a blood pregnancy test, and the result came out positive. It turns out that I was pregnant, and the single embryo transfer was successful.
After a few days, I had an ultrasound, and the baby was developing healthily. After this, till the day I gave birth, the doctors and nurses from The Hive Fertility routinely checked up on me and advised me on the dos and don’ts of IVF pregnancy.
After 9 months, I had a safe and healthy delivery, and I gave birth to a baby boy. My husband, I, and all my family are grateful to the hospital and to fate for bringing us to the best fertility hospital in Chennai. They are the main reason why we could have a whole and happy family, and we are forever grateful for that.
