Dr. S. Prema is a passionate and dedicated Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with strong expertise in both medical and surgical management of women’s health conditions. She has extensive hands-on experience in managing normal deliveries as well as performing lower segment caesarean section (LSCS), including complex and high-risk cases.

She completed her undergraduate medical degree from Kanyakumari Government Medical College, where she gained comprehensive exposure to all clinical departments during her internship. Her keen interest in women’s health led her to pursue postgraduation in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College.

During her residency, she developed strong clinical and surgical skills, particularly in labour ward management, where she successfully conducted over 500 deliveries. She also played a crucial role in managing deliveries during the COVID-19 pandemic, demonstrating resilience and commitment to patient care under challenging conditions.

Dr. Prema further enhanced her expertise during her senior residency at Government Vellore Medical College. She gained significant experience in handling high-risk pregnancies and intensive care cases. She has performed approximately 800 LSCS procedures, including complicated cases such as placenta previa, placental abruption, and caesarean hysterectomy. Her surgical experience also includes various gynaecological procedures such as hysterectomy and cyst removal.

In addition to obstetric care, she is well-versed in family planning services, having performed over 100 procedures including puerperal sterilization and medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) with TAT.

She has also served as a Maternal Death Nodal Officer, reflecting her commitment to improving maternal health outcomes and clinical governance.
